Invisalign® Q & A

What is Invisalign?

The Invisalign system includes a series of clear aligners you can place over your teeth to slowly shift them into the desired alignment over time. The Integrated Aesthetic Dentistry team also offers SureSmile® and CandidPro™ aligners, which provide similar results. Your dentist personalizes each treatment, offering orthodontic solutions that best match your needs.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Some of the main benefits associated with Invisalign and other clear aligner treatments include:

  • Straighter teeth
  • No wires or brackets
  • Fast treatment times
  • Easier teeth cleaning
  • More self-confidence
  • Aesthetically pleasing smiles

Unlike traditional braces, you can take clear aligners out of your mouth when you eat and brush your teeth.

Is Invisalign right for me?

To determine if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign, SureSmile, or CandidPro, your dentist reviews your oral health history and examines your teeth and gums. They discuss your desired outcome, take dental X-rays, and digitally scan your teeth to design the most effective clear aligner treatment.

If you have severely crooked or misaligned teeth, your specialist might recommend traditional braces instead of plastic aligners.

What happens during Invisalign treatment?

When your new aligners are ready, you can begin wearing them 20-22 hours daily or as directed by your dentist. Every 1-2 weeks, you can switch to the next set of aligners in your series until you complete treatment. Treatment times vary from patient to patient but often last about 12-18 months.

How should I care for my aligners?

To properly care for your aligners, keep them and your teeth clean, brushing both at least twice daily using fluoride toothpaste. You can also use the Invisalign cleaning system to keep your aligners clean.

Rinse them in warm water but avoid using hot water; doing so can warp the plastic. Call the Integrated Aesthetic Dentistry team if your aligners break or get lost, and see your dentist every six months for routine cleanings and dental exams.

Don’t live with crooked, misaligned teeth or settle for traditional braces when treatment with Invisalign, SureSmile, or CandidPro is noninvasive and painless. Call the Integrated Aesthetic Dentistry office for an appointment or schedule online today.
